ANDYCINE C5 – 5.5″ 3000 Nits On-Camera HDMI Monitor Announced

ANDYCINE C5 – 5.5" 3000 Nits On-Camera HDMI Monitor Announced

ANDYCINE C5 is a new bright 5.5″ on-camera monitor with a Full HD, 3000 nits touchscreen display. It only offers HDMI input and output, 8V DC power output, NP-F battery plates, SD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, and more. It’s now available for pre-order for $260.

When it comes to on-camera monitors, it seems that the market has been pretty saturated with a wide variety of models in all different price segments lately.

The Chinese camera accessories manufacturer ANDYCINE already has quite a few models in its portfolio. The new ANDYCINE C5 on-camera monitor should succeed by offering a very bright 5″ touchscreen display with an affordable price tag. Let’s take a look at the details.

The new C5 is a compact on-camera monitor that should offer interesting specs and features for a relatively affordable price. On this monitor, ANDYCINE used a 5.5″ 1920 x 1080 touchscreen display with a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits (cd/m²), a 1000:1 contrast ratio, and a 160° viewing angle. ANDYCINE C5 also features a built-in light sensor that can adjust the brightness of the monitor automatically depending on how bright the environment is. From the specs, the monitor really reminds me of the FEELWORLD LUT5 monitor which has been released at the beginning of 2022.

In terms of video connectivity, the monitor only has HDMI input and loop-through output ports, but unfortunately, no SDI. The HDMI ports accept up to DCI 4K video resolution.

ANDYCINE C5 can accept power from an NP-F battery as it has one battery slot at the back. Alternatively, it can also be powered via a 12V DC barrel input connector at the bottom. The good thing is that the monitor also features an 8V DC output barrel connector, so it can send power to additional devices such as a wireless video transmitter. Especially for this use, the monitor also features another NP-F slot at the back, but this one is “inverted” (it has the “battery side” of the NP-F mount). As many wireless video transmitters have an NP-F slot on the body, they can simply be mounted into the slot and connected with the cable for the power input.

Video monitoring features and design

There are two 1/4″-20 mounting threads – one on the right side and one at the bottom. The monitor also includes one 3.5mm headphone jack for audio monitoring and one SD card slot for loading custom LUTs. Speaking of LUTs, the ANDYCINE C5 has a wide selection of useful monitoring tools such as waveform, vector scope, histogram, peaking filter, anamorphic mode, false colors, grid, zoom-in, zebras, etc.

You can control all the features via touchscreen or via the dial on top of the monitor. According to ANDYCINE, this should be quite intuitive with the AndyOS UI. The monitor has an active cooling system with various grill intakes and an outtake at the top side, so it definitely isn’t weatherproof.

Price and availability

The ANDYCINE C5 monitor is available now pre-order and it costs $260. It comes with a hotshoe friction mount and a micro HDMI cable.

Do you have a very bright monitor for outdoor use or do you prefer EVF when working in bright environments? Do you have experience with any ANDYCINE monitor? What do you think of the ANDYCINE C5? Let us know in the comments section underneath the article.
