Meike has released a new 10mm f/2.0 manual focus lens for APS-C and micro four-thirds cameras. The lens is completely manual, with no autofocus or metadata circuitry embedded into the lens construction. It’s just a completely old-school manual design.
The latest in an ongoing series of low-cost, high-performance optics for independent content creators, the Meike 10mm F2 joins several other Meike lenses released in 2022, including a Meike a 7.5mm f/2.8, an 8mm f/2.8 Micro Four Thirds, a 12mm f/2 APS-C, a 50mm f/0.95 APS-C mount lens, and an 85mm f/1.8 full-frame lens.
The new 10mm F2 has a 15-element lens array, divided into 12 groups, with two of those lenses being aspherical lens elements.
Meike stops short of describing how many blades are in the aperture Irish, but with a range of f/2-f22, the 10mm F2 offers a nifty 10-point sunburst bokeh effect in low light with direct lighting such as street lights or lightbulbs.
The lens also enjoys a minimum focusing distance of .3 meters (11.8 inches).
The lens also has a diagonal field of view of 107 degrees for the APS-C version of the lens, and a 91-degree field of view for the Micro Four-Thirds model.
Meike also publishes the APS-C horizontal and vertical field of view at 96 and 72 degrees respectively, while the M43 version specs out at 78 and 63 degrees.
The company doesn’t usually publish the overall dimension of their lenses, choosing instead to tell users how much they weigh, which in this case is 550 grams (1.21 pounds). The front lens filter size, however, is listed at 77mm right on the edge of the front.
A completely manual lens, the 10mm F2 offers focus, aperture, and control, with multiple distance scales printed in feet and meters. The lens also comes with a wide lens hood to protect against lens flare.
The Meike 10mm F2.0 is available at Meike Direct and Amazon for $449. The lens supports Sony E-mount, Fuji X-Mount, and Nikon Z mount cameras and ships on July 20th. Canon RF and Micro Four-Thirds models will be coming on line shortly thereafter.
