A listing for a new potential new model of the Nintendo Switch popped up at a French retailer. According to the listing, the new Nintendo Switch will be priced at €399 (roughly Rs. 35,527). The listing is reportedly set to go live on June 4, according to French publication Centro, caught by Video Games Chronicle.
Rumours about a Nintendo Switch Pro have been circulating for well over a year, with the rumours getting stronger this year. Nintendo, however, has stayed largely quiet on the matter. If the listing is accurate, we expect to see an announcement before E3 2021 kicks off, which is set to take place between June 12 and June 15.
Unfortunately, no real details about the new Switch model have been revealed or leaked, but rumours state that it will be a considerable upgrade over the original Switch. The new Switch is rumoured to be capable of making use of Nvidia’s DLSS technology in order to play games at 4K quality while docked. DLSS is exclusive to Nvidia’s chips, and the original Switch already runs on Nvidia’s hardware, so it is likely that this partnership between Nintendo and Nvidia will continue.
Nintendo Switch Pro in India
Unfortunately, considering Nvidia’s lack of interest in India, it is unlikely that we’ll get an official release of the console. It will still be possible to get it through parallel imports or grey markets; the same means by which the original Switch became widely popular in the country.
Sources at retail have told IGN India that, despite price hikes and supply issues, the Switch had outsold the PS4, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S in India in 2020, with around 100,000 units sold by March 2021.
