What’s New With The Secretlab 2022 Series?
Visually, the new 2022 series looks near-identical to previous iterations, however, some of the features have been reengineered and quality of life upgrades have been added. The chair at first glance looks to go in the new direction we saw with the Magnus desk, with magnets making a couple of appearances.
A major change from Secretlab is its decision to combine the best aspects of the Omega and Titan lines of chairs together, to create the most technologically advanced chair to date. Now, I’m a huge fan of the Omega series as it has always offered a more comfortable option than the Titan in my opinion but as long as they aren’t losing that comfort, I’m on board with the changes.
Changes at a glance:
- Improved Ergonomics
- Improved Comfort
- Deeper Personalization
- Overhauled Lumbar Support System
- Proprietary Pebble Seat Base
- Upgraded Upholstery
Both Secretlabs SoftWeave and Leatherette materials have been upgraded, with the SoftWeave being engineered to be softer, more breathable, and extra durable, while the NEO Hybrid Leatherette has been redesigned to recreate the resilience of NAPA leather.
The SoftWeave Plus Fabric consists of interlacing loops of high-strength yarn fibers that allow for smaller details to be incorporated into the stitch, which enables complex designs of multi-layered textile with different layers of color. The 2022 series in SoftWeave will be available in Secretlab’s new colorways: Arctic White, Cookies & Cream, Black, Plush Pink, Frost Blue, and Mint Green.
The NEO Leatherette option is the toughest to come from Secretlab with 12 times the durability of regular PU Leather. The material remains plush and soft to the touch, with a unique top laminate and base layer. You can expect to see the Leatherette models available in Stealth, Black, Classic, Ash, and Royal.
All-New Lumbar System
No longer solely relying on ergonomics and a support pillow, Secretlab introduces its Lumbar changes with the 2022 series chairs. The new 4-way L-ADAPT system can move up, down, in, and out, allowing you to adjust it perfectly with your spine. A lattice of living hinges adapts to the curvature of your back, giving your back the support it needs.
Secretlab Is Going Magnetic
After the release of the Secretlab Magnus desk, it is no surprise to see them utilize some magnetic features with the chairs too. You can now swap out your 4D armrests with Secretlabs Magnetic CloudSwap system. This is a great addition to the chair’s features, now giving users the option to replace the parts that could show wear and tear first.
You are still going to be getting a head pillow when you purchase the new 2022 series chairs but no more fiddling with the strap or easily knocking it off the top of the chair with your head, it has been magnetized. That’s right, the head pillow now sticks to the backrest for the perfect fit!
Other quality of life improvements:
- Shorter Hydraulics with improved design, catering to a weir range of users
- Adjustment leavers now sit at better angles and are positioned for easier reach
- Redesigned recline handle and lumbar adjustment knobs included for better grip
